RVing to Alaska
Here is a good vid by Long Long Honeymoon about when to go to Alaska and when to leave. Personally, we’ve had good travel in late April to early May but few facilities are open until late May. Our fall travel is usually in October, but that’s too late in the year. RV campgrounds are closed as are dump stations until you get to mid to southern BC. We’ve had to sit out snowstorms, crawl our 5th-wheel over black ice, and wake up to shovel snow off the roof in late October. May is nice for the first wildflowers and the frost ends, usually, on Labor Day, but it’s best to head out no later than the third week of September.
